Trinity Bellwoods Park Gates
This is the view across the road from yesterday's pic showing the wonderful gates at the entrance to Trinity Bellwoods Park. The park is located right downtown on West Queen St West and was originally the site of Trinity College which opened here in 1852 but moved to the University of Toronto campus in 1925 when the land was sold to the city of Toronto. The buildings were demolished in the 1950s but the gates remained and were finally restored and re-installed in 2007 after years of neglect. It is a huge park with rinks, swimming pool, off-leash dog areas, etc, and is also used for a lot of cultural events. And it is famous for the white squirrels which I have seen many times and I will attempt to get a pic of one!
It seems a nice place to relax!
ReplyDeleteGood luck, I'd love to see the pictures of the white squirrels! ;-)
Wonderful shot
ReplyDeleteAnd what a cool name for this park!
I think it's great that the gates have been restored. Stately looking.
ReplyDeleteI mainly see black and gray squirrels at my house. If the white ones don't dig up the garden and eat tulips, I might like them. ;)
ReplyDeleteNice fence in any case. I like these fancy kinds.
Beautiful gates -- sounds as if that park has everything.
ReplyDeleteI grew up in Illinois where squirrels were always very active. I remember a few that used to come to the edge of our garage roof and beg for handouts. But, I have never seen a white squirrel. I'll look forward to a photo of one.
ReplyDeleteLovely gates! In-city parks can be such a refuge.
ReplyDeleteNice shot of these wonderful gates!
ReplyDeleteWonderful gates. I like that the area was saved as a park, with so many features.
ReplyDeleteThe columns, gates and fence are beautiful. Glad they saved and restored them.
ReplyDeleteNice entrance! I would love to see a white squirrel.
ReplyDeleteSo glad they didn't demolish the gates too Red, it would have been so easy to do. Wonder if there was a petition to save them or something!
ReplyDeleteI think I would like Toronto very much! Your pictures show off the city well. I'll look forward to the white squirrels.
ReplyDeleteMe again. Misty Anderson made a nice comment on the post about her Irish Wolfhounds. She addressed something you said!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful!
