Jarvis Street Baptist Church

This is the church where you find the entrance from yesterday's post. The Church was founded in 1818 but this bGothic Revival building wasn't constructed until 1875. The interior is quite unusual since it has an amphitheatre shape which fits perfectly into this corner site. I love the copper spire which rises 165 ft above the corner main entrance.

  6. What a fine use of the corner site. The doors in your previous post are quite nice - «Louis» has long liked that trefoil design.

«Louis» posted one of the California missions founded in the 18th century by Franciscan monks.

  7. This building is very similar in architecture to the churches of my youth...and most of them were built so as to wrap around the front focal point, including the balconies.
