Corner Store
Even in this day and age of so many large store chains, there are still a lot of small independent corner stores around the city. This one is on Bloor St just down the street from yesterday's restaurant and it specializes in fruit and a wonderful assortment of flowers, especially at this time of year.
It looks like a wonderful place to shop! I always try to shop at locally owned businesses when I can.
ReplyDeleteOh I love that place so colourful great shot.
ReplyDeleteI have driven by this place many a time. Just love that display!
ReplyDeletereally makes for an attractive corner!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful corner store to have in the neighborhood. I morn the "malling" of our cities and the consequent loss of wide retail selection and service offered by mom and pop stores.
ReplyDeleteI am all for corner shops. I try to stay away from the big supermarkets.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first started my blog, I found several of these in Phoenix too. I had no idea there were still some "corner stores" around town but, there are. I love it. It reminds me of growing up and walking to the corner store in the afternoons with my grandfather to get some penny candy.
ReplyDeleteAlways nice to see some survivors. Do they bring in all those plants each evening and set them all out again every morning? What a job that must be.
ReplyDeleteNo corner grocers here :(
ReplyDeleteLooks like a very bright and cheerful place to shop at!
ReplyDeleteOh yes! It would be so much more enjoyable shopping here than in the supermarket.. I'm guessing there would be a cafe or two nearby.. perfect!
ReplyDeleteWe've found that the quality of goods in the larger supermarkets continues to decline. I just wish we had more of these kinds of markets here. This looks like a delightful place! Sure as heck beats Walmart!
ReplyDeleteThey're even skateboarding to the fruit and flower shop.
ReplyDeleteAnd I do so hope they will bravely continue to survive! I mean, let's face it, that corner wouldn't look half as good if that was the umpteenth bank...
ReplyDeletePink is not my color, but I have to admit I bought a tiny vase of tiny pink flowers to brighten up my bedroom recently. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThe ones you photographed are huge! Do you know their name?
This is what I miss - those corner stores with the sidewalk full of flowers for sale. You don't really see that in Hamilton for some reason.
ReplyDeleteIt looks quite old fashioned.
ReplyDeleteI grew up in East York and the corner store was a big part of my life. I miss them.
ReplyDeleteFruit and flowers? Who could ask for anything more? Seriously.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful corner.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a great place -- the kind of shop where they ought to charge me for browsing and taking pictures!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful corner, full of flowers!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing all the flowers brightening up the neighbourhood.
ReplyDeleteWhat a feast for the eye! Look at all those colours.
ReplyDeleteNow, THIS is my kind of store.
