Changes

When this church, Bloor Street United, was built in 1890 it was a small Presbyterian church but changed to a United Church after the congregation grew and it was enlarged. But the city decided to widen Bloor St and in 1927 wonderful Gothic portals along the street were demolished leaving little space for a grand entrance. The church is located right beside the U of Toronto campus and serves the university and the surrounding Annex neighbourhood by hosting many community activities.

    Councils have no sympathy for anything even churches. Would have look a lot nicer with out the two extensions which have beed added later

    looks like a lot of folks enjoy biking. what a beautiful church. i am curious as to why they have 3 doors so close together? it has me pondering??!! i enjoy the turquoise caps. ( :

    It's kind of sad that this majestic church now has so little property around it, I think.

    Your commentary helped me to take a more careful look at this poor church. We can see where it has been modified. It looks like it is wearing a straitjacket.
