I've shown this church before but never from this angle but since Bloor St was closed to traffic during the Open Streets TO event I was able to stand in the middle of the street for a different view. The Church Of The Redeemer was designed by architects Smith & Gimmell and built in 1879 when this was countryside. It now stands at one of the busiest corners in the city, across from the Royal Ontario Museum.

It's a beautiful church. When I was last in the area, I photographed it from a bit of a different angle.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to believe that this location was once countryside...how times change. Tom The Backroads Traveller
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful view! Love the stone.
ReplyDeleteThe more modern building behind it has steps that mirror the angle of this church's roof. Or maybe I am just imagining it.
