This is a common sight in the older areas of Toronto where you will find a new modern house built in the middle of much older homes. I'm not sure if this was a total rebuild or just an extensive renovation but it works for me. The pic was taken a few weeks ago when we still had snow.
I like their fence and am taking part in Good Fences. Click HERE to see more fences from around the world.
I see this mix of styles in the towns around Toronto too. At first I found it jarring to see such a mixture but now I rather like it. ;)
ReplyDeleteAlways a bit of wonder how they get the construction done in such tight quarters.
ReplyDeleteI don't often care for the mix of new and old, but this seems to fit in rather nicely. I love the color of the door with the slate-colored brick!
ReplyDeleteWe call them row houses here, and normally I like the older brick designs but this one even in its modern design is very nice, and I'd be proud to say that was mine! Love the wood choice for the front door too. I rather like each one appearing in its own style instead of all blending into one! Cool shot. I like their festive ornaments too!
ReplyDeleteA new style and different colours, nice !
ReplyDeleteThe fence is essential, and perfect for the house, which I quite like, by the way!
ReplyDeleteHere in the Bay Area many of the historical districts have building codes which dictates that the same style of design be continued when doing renovation or new construction.
ReplyDeleteI love those huge windows in the front!
ReplyDeleteWorks for me too Pat, see that a lot here also.. I think it makes for a more interesting street scene.
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteI love when they put a modern house between older ones. Because the older ones were once modern themselves :))
Have a beautiful day

wow! quite pretty!
ReplyDeleteIt seems strange to see a house without a peeked roof.
ReplyDeleteIn this case, it seems to work- probably because the materials are the same as the neighbouring houses.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks really nice. You see some of that in here as well.
ReplyDeleteGood fence and great reflections in the windows.
ReplyDeleteIt looks good between old ;)
ReplyDeleteI don't like the flat roof...they needed to make it peaked like the ones on either side!
ReplyDeleteSurprisingly enough, I like it. It looks like slate!
ReplyDeleteIt would certainly be easy to tell someone which house you lived in!
ReplyDeleteInteresting photo. These "slip-in" buildings were commonly built in the 1960s and 70s. Now most replacement buildings try to be in keeping with their neighborhoods.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that both houses on either side have quite obviously modernized their windows makes the highly rectangular building less obtrusive.
ReplyDeleteit is a typical mixture of styles which is very common in my Silesia,
ReplyDeleteThat is a nice fence and it matches the house well. However jammed between the older homes it looks a bit out of place.
ReplyDeleteyes, an obliging little house and fence!

=^..^=
Love the big window and the reflections. Great fence shot and the house does fit in between the two older styled homes.
ReplyDeleteGood use of available space.
ReplyDeleteI must say it does all rather work together well.
ReplyDeleteI like it too and those windows look nice with the reflections of the trees.
ReplyDeletenow that is when i hope you love your neighbors ... because that is some close quarters. woowee wee!! i can only imagine living that close to my neighbors.. what we do, is close enough. & that is still close. ha. ha!! ( :
ReplyDeleteInteresting color. I like it!
ReplyDeleteThis works because each house is still individual. Nice fence
ReplyDeleteI like this house.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend
I like this house.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend
Neat looking. They must have used a shoehorn to get it in there. Tom The Backroads Traveller
ReplyDeleteI think it fits in perfectly with its neighbours!
