Last week I showed you the stone wall that surrounds the grounds at Spadina House and this week I am showing the wall/fence that separates the front entrance of the mansion from the orchard and greenhouse. In summer it is hard to see through those openings since they hang flowers in them and ivy covers the whole wall so I present a winter shot instead.

That is a very solid, impressive looking Romanesque fence. Not sure it fits with the architectural style of the house however. Looks like someone started to build with stone and couldn't stop.
ReplyDeleteLovely to peak through and see a bit of the garden Pat, I love the stonework but as TFG states it does seem a little at odds with the house. Bet it looks gorgeous in summer.
ReplyDeleteNow that is a very interesting wall indeed!
ReplyDeleteA great find and this view of the mansion with the green shutters makes me think of a French castle.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo and wonderful strong fence!
