Deco Beauty

This wonderful Art Deco building was built downtown on York St in 1929 and was designed by architects Kaplan & Sprachman who were known for designing more than 80% of the cinemas in Canada during that era. It was originally known as the York Mercantile Building but is now called Prudential House. The whole building has beautiful deco details in its stonework.

  1. Early deco, I suppose. It is quite ornate and very nice.

  3. My favourite architectural style!
P.s. Toodyay is pronounced as if it had a J, like Toodjay! One of those tricky Aboriginal words Pat 😃

  8. I love it. And I miss it. You just don't see this kind of building in Florida. Which is not a good thing!
