This is a closeup of the carvings found on the columns in yesterdays pic of the entrance to the Royal Conservatory of Music. I love the craftsmanship that you find on older buildings, something that is rare today.
You are absolutely right. Craftsmen are few and far between in this 21st century which means many if not most of these buildings won't be around in the 22nd century for the people who come after us to enjoy; and that's a shame!
Thanks for the wonderful comment today. I agree about this detail. I can't think of any new building that has this kind of artwork built into it.
