This is the chrysalis stage of a Monarch Butterfly about 5 days after the caterpillar changed form. There will probably be another 5 or 6 days before the butterfly appears. It is magic!

Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI sometimes see a Monarch Butterfly here late in the season. I think it is when they begin their migration south before winter.
Have a great weekend!
It is magic. It really is one of nature's most unusual phenomenons.

I can't say that I've seen one of these out in nature. Great shot, very interesting.
ReplyDeleteTheir instincts are so amazing, how they navigate when they've never been there before!
ReplyDeleteLike a green jewel in the light. Marvelous.
ReplyDeleteLike a little earring!
ReplyDeleteAren't they miraculous?! We have 5 in chrysalis outside. The first emerged 10 days out, but the next, might take longer as it is sooler. 10 - 14 days is the average. It's so much fun!
