It is Dahlia season here and there are some real beauties around. I caught this one just a while after a light rain shower and those white marks on the lower petals are actually reflections in water drops still clinging to the flower.
We don't see dahlias here in Arizona. I'm sure it's way to hot and dry to grow them but, I see them in California when I visit. They have the most amazing blooms the size of dinner plates. This one is gorgeous.
It's a real beauty! Love that deep color. I shot a couple of dahlias last week and once I looked at the shots I saw that they were both full of tiny holes from earwigs. Ugh.
