I have a running battle with the squirrels to see who is going to eat my tomatoes and peppers. This year I seem to be winning so far but just as things are looking nicely ripe they often disappear. This guy was not on my roof deck so it wasn't my produce being eaten.

ReplyDeleteHe's such a cute little guy! I'm glad he's not your thief.
ReplyDeleteConsider yourself lucky that it is a squirrel.
ReplyDeleteI have rats in my backyard. (╯°□°)╯
Hello,
ReplyDeleteThe Black Squirrel is pretty. I did not know they ate tomatoes.
Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Enjoy your day, wishing you a happy weekend!
Looks just like the culprits in my yard!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie. Don’t see them in my yard.
ReplyDeleteAlways enjoy seeing the black squirrels as there are none of them around here, only red squirrels.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy sweet critter!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute wee squirrel. Haven't seen a squirrel in a long time.
ReplyDeleteWhat you munchin' on there little guy? :-)
ReplyDeleteIn Poland squirrels are mostly red.
ReplyDeleteI hate that I have to battle wildlife for the produce from my garden! We had a rat (ugh!!) last summer that got almost every one of my delicata squashes, all our apples (a small crop), and tomatoes.
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question on crocosmia: I grow all of mine in containers and they do well. The ones that do best are the ones with the deepest soil -- about 8-10" deep. Your climate is both warmer and colder than ours so I can't guess how they'd do there but mine overwinter fine and we have long runs of nights below freezing, and have snow too. Ours bloom starting in July (our summery days don't really begin until July) and have bloomed nicely all month. Our frequent winds beat them up a bit. I don't know whether you can count on blooms all summer. It's certainly worth a try. If you can find them for sale in your area they likely can do okay.
Squirrels are hard critters to keep out of your garden. I can't even keep them out of my "squirrel proof" bird feeders.
ReplyDeleteBlack squirrel, wow. Squirrels look cute, but they're little beasts and they eat almost everything.
ReplyDeleteBon appetite!
ReplyDeleteOh it's the cutest little food thief Pat 💜
ReplyDeleteQue simpática. Me encanta.
ReplyDeleteCuídate.
Un abrazo.
