Dinnertime

This Red-Tail Hawk had caught a pigeon and proceeded to land on a pole just about 20 ft from my roof deck. I didn't see the beginning of the episode but saw him as he enjoyed his dinner but if you look closely he was being dive-bombed by wasps and eventually he gave up and flew off leaving part of the carcass behind. Nature.

  6. Nature's brutal side on display! I've seen a roadrunner do pretty much the same thing just not on top of a pole.

  7. A wasp or two will buzz around me as I'm filling the birdbath, waiting for their drink of water, but they never bother me. Apparently they see me as the provider.

  8. I am surprised the Hawk did not take his dinner with him when he left. Perhaps he was already full? Great photo that tells a story.
