I was walking through a local park that has a lot of trees when I heard hammering above me. It took a couple of minutes to locate this Downy Woodpecker which was flitting from side to side in the trees. I never did get a clear shot as it never stayed still for long.

Yes, they can be VERY hard to spot! Easy to hear, though.

ReplyDeleteThis must be a Downey female woodpecker as I don't see the red stripe on the head that would indicate it is a male.
