This striking sign graces the entrance to the Downward Dog Yoga Centre on Queen St West. Probably one of the highest profile yoga studios in Toronto it has had guest participants such as Sting, Justin Timberlake, and other celebrities. Not a yoga person, I do really like their sign/mural although I have no idea what the symbolism of the image can be! Any ideas out there? Also, don't know who the artist is of this one.

Downward facing dog is one of the most widely recognized yoga poses; in the image we can see the Ohm symbol (the sound of Universe) inside of a lotus flower (it grows in the mud, it is a symbol of transformation).

Fun sign. The logo reminds me of patterns I used to draw as a kid with a Spirograph set. Do you remember Spirograph?

ReplyDeleteKnew about the pose -- heck I can even do the downward dog, more or less. (I love to try to do yoga)...but without Lucia's comment I wouldn't have known the symbol. The sign is beautiful.
