"Equal Before The Law"

This sculpture, titled Equal Before The Law, by Toronto artist Eldon Garnet has just recently been installed in the walkway running alongside the Ontario Courthouse on University Ave. Quite suitable for the location.  The perspective of this pic makes it look as if justice is weighted towards the lion but the platform is actually level!

  1. Interesting sculpture. I'm glad to learn the lion doesn't always win. :)

  2. If only what we want to believe were true. But it isn't and never has been yet remains an ideal which is worth striving for and I think this sculpture is a vivid reminder of what should be.

I've seen over and over again how the law favors the rich and the powerful.

  5. Nice work, though I think that anybody who actually believes that is being a tad naive! Lions will always have an edge.

  6. Great sculpture, I agree more an ideal to aim for than reality though!

  10. Not very subtle, is it? There are many more sheep than lions, so maybe the lions need a bit of an edge . . .

  13. Makes a change from the usual set of scales in sculptures depicting the process of law.

  14. A very interesting and original sculpture, but then real life teaches us that unfortunately is not always so.
