Curvy Room
This is the back of the George H Locke Memorial Branch of the Toronto Public Library located at Yonge St & Lawrence Ave. I will have to get a pic of the front one day when traffic is sparse but this back part is actually nicer with the big windows and the curved wall. George Locke was the chief librarian for the city from 1908 to 1937 and when this was built after the war in 1949 the decision was made to name it after him.
Love the use of the stone.

ReplyDeleteToronto is my favorite big city in Canada, I lived there for 5 years, many years ago, attending Ryerson.

A beautiful looking building and the stone work is fantastic. Must be nice inside too with lots of light with that curved window. Very nice!

The stonework is really nice Pat, I like the curved wall and I see that all the windows are a different style. They seemed to use a lot of stone in the late 50/60's.
