The Ossington Ave Strip

This is a typical building from the Ossington Ave strip (part of little Portugal). The building, called the Levack Block, was built in 1891 and was very run-down until being purchased in 2006 by a brother and sister who fixed parts up and opened a bar, "Levack Block" with cool vintage furnishings, in the corner space. Since then a couple more of the stores have been fixed up and the change-over continues up the block!

I love how one renovation can spark man others!

The building has good bones. Let's hope that the upswing has started and has some legs.

1891 huh? That's older than the town I live in!! (Powell River was founded in 1910)

I love old buildings like this, and usually one fix up spurs another.

Wouldn't renovated apartments be nice upstairs? All mod cons, but lots of character.

What a beautiful old building. Needs a little face lift.

The place look great, now I'm curious and I'll like to see the place from the inside, maybe could be another daily photo?

Great to see old places being renovated rather than demolished

'Levack Block' sounds like it would be a cool place to have a drink Red, glad to hear this great old building is getting used.
