A Tiny Car

This tiny Mini was spotted recently during a rainfall but it was so small that I had to get a shot despite the rain. They are amazingly small and make the newer Minis look huge in comparison.

Finding Some Shade

Even the ducks have been looking for a shady spot to have a nap during the hot weather. This pair had found a bit but the sun was moving and they had to move a little while after I took this shot.

Showing Some Leg

I spotted this woman flashing her leg and a little bit more on the lawn of a house in the Annex neighbourhood. Somehow she suits the classic old homes in this area.

A Cool Renovation

This house in the Seaton Village neighbourhood was just a plain 2 storey red brick one until this wonderful renovation took place. That second storey with the soaring ceiling looks grand from the outside. This is another one that I would love to see inside.

Taking A Breath

This sign was painted recently on the side of a large house. I could find no info about it but I think it may have been painted by Ben Johnston who paints this kind of mural using type. It reminds me to stop every once in a while and take a deep breath to relax.

The Greenhouse

I love the greenhouse at Spadina House and always make a point of checking it out when in the area. Its beautiful shape is so pleasing all year long. Functional and beautiful at the same time.

Working

This mural recently appeared on a building across the road from one of the maintenance yards of the TTC (Toronto Transit Commission). It shows a worker cutting a streetcar rail. There was no artist name but you can see that it is sponsored by the city, the TTC, and the company that owns the building. That is a food delivery person cycling by in the lower centre.

Spadina Garden

I thought I would show you just a small section of the garden at Spadina House where yesterday's bee was hanging out. The whole area of the garden was teeming with bees.

The Bees Are Making An Appearance

I had seen very few bees until the last week or so but they seem to be reappearing now. This shot was taken in the gardens at Spadina House where there were bees everywhere. They were not staying still for long so I was glad to catch this one for a pic.

Over The Wall

When you get to the top of the stairs leading up to Casa Loma from Davenport Rd this is the view you get. The stone wall is perfect for the Casa don't you think?

The View

This is the view from half way up the stairs to Casa Loma looking down over the trees of the Annex neighbourhood to the towers of downtown including the CN Tower. The woman I showed you on Tuesday was standing down on the corner to the right.

The ROM

This is a shot of the ROM (Royal Ontario Museum) from the opposite side that I showed it last week. Here you can really see how the addition designed by Daniel Libeskind looks like it has collided with the original building.

Waiting For The Light

I loved this woman's pose as she waited for the traffic light to change. You can see from the outfit that it is summer here.

Streetscape

This mural with the funny streetscape was found along a laneway off Bloor St W. The strange buildings seem to be formed from letters but I can't figure out if they spell anything. I got no artist name.

A Hobbit House?

This scene at James Gardens with the gardener working around a deep shadow cast by the bushes reminded me of a hobbit house at first. She was busy doing some weeding.

Finally A Monarch

This is only the second Monarch butterfly I have seen this summer and it was quite happily fluttering around in a patch of milkweed. I was pleased to catch it being still for a second.

Flashy

If you are going to spend big money for a car you might as well get it in a colour that gets noticed. This flashy McLaren was spotted at the exotic car show in the Yorkville neighbourhood a few weeks ago.  Check out that license plate.

A Pretty House

This house in the Annex looked so refreshing on a hot summer day that I had to stop for a pic. The colours seem suitable for the times with the yellow and blue.

Look For The Sign Of The Cat

It was the cat face that attracted my attention to this storefront on Bloor St W and then I read the info. Grey Tiger is a chic cocktail lounge which apparently is quite popular. I'm not sure why the cat has 3 eyes and lightning bolts coming from his eyes but I think he is not a creature to be messed with.

Reflections On A Museum

While walking along Bloor St W I was struck by the interesting reflections in the windows of the ROM (Royal Ontario Museum). These angular structures are part of the Daniel Libeskind designed addition to the museum.

Next

This mural for Converse was spotted along the same laneway as last week's raccoon summer fun mural and it seems to be and ad for summer fun too. Love the colours and patterns on this one.

An Urban Forest

These trees are found in the same park in the Yorkville neighbourhood as the large rock that I showed last Tuesday. I imagine those concrete rings provide a place to sit and also keep dogs from peeing up against the tree trunks. The trees look happy.

Flowers In Your Hair

I spotted this mural on the side of a house along a laneway and the house had been having trouble with taggers until they had this painted. It almost looks like the horse is wearing a flower behind its ear. I thought this was suitable for Saturday's critters. The artist signature says Moises.

Waiting Patiently

I spotted this woman sitting waiting for someone during the exotic car event along Bloor St in the Yorkville neighbourhood. She was there quite a while but seemed to be enjoying watching the people going by.

Cool Car

This is the car where yesterday's sign was found below the back light. This is a 1967 collaboration between Alfa Romeo and Zagoto resulting in this cool retro look. These were only made for a few years in the mid 60s. Wouldn't it be fun to buzz around town in this one?

Classy Sign

This sign was spotted at the exotic car show in Yorkville a couple of weeks ago. I'll show you the car it belongs to tomorrow but the sign looks so classy that it deserves a close-up.

The Yorkville Rock

This large rock is found in the lovely small park in the Yorkville neighbourhood and is a very popular place for people to gather or to meet up. It weighs around 650 tons and was cut into large pieces to be transported into the city and then was reassembled.

Summer Fun

I spotted another mural by Emily May Rose featuring her wonderful raccoon characters relaxing and enjoying the pleasures of summer. She must have such fun designing these.

A Club

This is the entrance to the York Club which is a social club that has been on St George St at Bloor St W since 1910. The building was constructed as a residence in the 1890s before being sold to the club. I have never been inside but have always been intrigued by it.

Feeding Frenzy

The young goslings were going crazy for the bits of bread this woman was tossing down for them. There is a sign just off to the right in this shot telling you to not feed the wildlife but few people seem to pay attention to it. These young geese always look quite strange to me with their little stumpy wings don't you think?

July Theme:Transparent

The July theme for the City Daily Photo Blog community is "Transparent". I found this one hard and then as I walked along Bloor St during the exotic car show I spotted all the people eating at Eataly in a space hanging over the sidewalk with a small glass wall keeping them safe. They are open and visible to the world but still behind glass.
