This carriage is definitely not suitable for Cinderella as it has always stayed a pumpkin even before midnight. This was spotted at a local garden centre. Happy Halloween everyone!

Black Cat
This has to be one of the best home-made Halloween settings that I have ever seen with the theme being 'an Egyptian tomb'. The tarps are meant to resemble pyramids while we look through and up the porch stairs to the interior of the tomb to see the mummy and the usual decorations. While I was getting ready to take this shot the resident black cat came out and sat itself down right in front of the mummy. Perfect!

It Has Been Rough Day!
This guy hiding out in the bushes has had a rough day and would like to not be disturbed. Too bad there are busy times ahead for him this weekend!

Waiting For The Big Night
Some people are ready and waiting for the big night to arrive. A bit of music always helps. It seems that a lot of people have constructed their own props for Halloween this year.

He Loves Me, He Loves Me ....!
Scattered among the larger old buildings in the Liberty Village neighbourhood you can often find quirky little structures like this one. It is actually attached to a much larger place behind it and they are both in danger of being replaced by condos. I love the whimsy of this one in particular the cute signs on the stairs. This view has been used in several movie scenes.

Times Change
I showed you a mural yesterday from the Liberty Village neighbourhood and today show one of the typical industrial buildings that once occupied the whole area. When industry left for overseas these buildings became studios and lofts for artists but as is usually the case gentrification has taken place and most of the artists have moved on to other spaces. Now these buildings are divided up into offices and design studios although this one has a climbing club on the main floor. Many of the really large factories have been torn down and the usual condo towers have replaced them. There are a lot of trendy restaurants in the area now too. The studio I had for 10 years is now a restaurant.

A Cuppa And A Cat
What a relaxing idea to sit and have a cup of something warm in the company of a nice cat. This mural was spotted in the Liberty Village neighbourhood. There was no artist info but I might guess that it was done by Jarus the same artist who did last week's Baltimore Oriole mural.

Just For Fun
We often don't have green plants still thriving at this time of year but this has been an exceptionally warm start to autumn here. This strange bird was spotted hiding out on the deck!

Bark
I love the textured bark on this tree. I have no idea what kind of tree it is though. Maybe someone out there does?

A Lovely Fall Day
We have had some lovely warm fall days which are perfect for a nice long walk. I spotted this nice view along the driveway of one of the heritage homes in the Yorkville neighbourhood while doing just that.

A Twist On Empanadas
The Gaucho Pie Company is a family run bakery serving Argentinian empanadas with a Toronto twist of flavours. They feature 20 different flavours which reference some of the diverse cultures found in the city. So you can try things like spicy pork with kimchi as a tribute to Koreatown and lots of others. Right now they are just doing wholesale as they renovate their retail operation.

Balls Of Steel
These large Corten steel balls were spotted in a large planter in front of an apartment building in the Annex neighbourhood. The photo was taken facing the park across the road for a nicer background. There was no artist info which was unfortunate as I really liked the pieces.

Duck On A Rail
This duck at James Gardens was taking advantage of the railing over the pond to get a good overview of the scene although she also seemed to be dozing on and off. There is something about the way her feet curl around the wooden rail that seems so sweet to me.

Marigolds
Marigolds seem to peak in the autumn. These ones had seeded themselves from last year in a large pot where I had grown snow peas but as the peas finished these guys started to appear and now they are putting on a great show.

The Old Schoolhouse
This is the Schoolhouse Loft building which is located in a converted grade school in the Annex neighbourhood. I've been in 3 different lofts in the building and they are all gorgeous! The old schoolhouse never looked so good.

Project Swallowtail
This is a project in west Toronto to encourage residents to restore nature by planting native plants in their neighbourhhoods and at the same time provide friendly surroundings for butterflies.

Galleria
This is the sales office for the Galleria condos whose small parking lot is bordered by yesterday's mural. This elaborate structure is all new construction built specifically for the office. It is not the usual kind of sales office for sure.

Colour
This great blast of colour appeared in 2020 along one edge of a parking lot near a new condo project. It turned out that the parking lot was for the sales office of the condo and I will show you part of that building tomorrow. This mural was sponsored by the plumbing supply company, Next, which occupies the building whose wall it is on. The artist for this one is Jacquie Comrie.

A Pop-up Dog
The pop-up cards in the window of a shop in Koreatown continue to amuse and amaze me. I thought this dog was especially well done.

Watchful
This hawk can be found most days perched about 50 ft above one of our transit buildings on the communication tower for the whole system controlling buses, streetcars and subways. He has a wonderful view down along a rail line so it is perfect for watching for prey. It is a Red-Tail Hawk and may be a young one judging by its scruffy appearance.

A Late Summer Flower
I don't know what kind of flower this is but it was a treat to see it in late September. The bloom itself was healthy but if you look at the leaves they are quite bedraggled. It seems to have been a good year for slugs and snails who are probably the culprits.

Spheres
These wonderful stone spheres are installed along the front of a property near Casa Loma. They are solid stone and have such a great feel to them. And they certainly protect the lawn from any intruders.

While walking through a parking lot I spotted this little green Fiat 500. It was in immaculate condition, even the interior was perfect. I'll show you another view tomorrow.

New Mural
I was wandering about and happened upon this mural being painted on the side of a restaurant. The artist is hidden behind the large piece of equipment but he stopped to tell me that he has been working on this one for 4 days and has another week of work to do. I'll be back to check out the finished project. The artist is Troy Lovegate aka Other.

Yet another pop-up card from the shop window in Koreatown. This one is really complicated and it is hard to imagine it folding flat.

Bath Time
Most of the ducks at James Gardens were relaxing around the edge of the pond when one of them decided it was time for an exuberant bath. There was a lot of splashing as the bath continued on for a good length of time.

October Theme: Winning
The October theme for the City Daily Photo Blog community is "Winning". For my entry I have taken a photo of these ribbons won by one of my older relative years ago at a Special Olympics for one of the counties in our province. He was a challenged individual and was truly special. He won 2 ribbons at the event but also got a green ribbon for every event he entered. He was thrilled with the day.
