This steel table (with make-believe lamp on top) is one of 3 that were installed guerilla style, i.e. with no permission, in a local park in the Seaton Village neighbourhood several years ago. The park is now undergoing a revitalization and the residents of the area made it a condition that the tables would have to be kept in place so this one was temporarily removed while new concrete was poured and new benches installed leaving a space for the table to sit between them. The table is now reinstalled and officially part of the park! The artist for these tables is William Roddy. The other tables he did are here and here.
Great table, love that mad propeller look!
ReplyDeletesome parks need this type of guerilla street art if the city is not willing to participate. the lamp is cool!
ReplyDeleteGreat picture. Very cool artist. Very cool for the park to have an artist who shares his work so generously. As said a very cool guy.
ReplyDeleteJob well done
ReplyDeleteWell good for Mr. Roddy, and even better for the area residents!
ReplyDeleteWonderful artwork.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great story. You Torontans are pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteI like it. I'm glad the neighborhood stood up for it.
ReplyDeleteIt fits in perfectly!
ReplyDeleteI dunno. Guerilla tables? That's very strange and quite funny. Looks kinda dangerous, too. I guess one could write a song about it, on the order of "Rusty Old Halo" - call it "Rusty Old Table." I'll work on that! :-)
ReplyDeleteNeat story. This one works. Are there other failures?
ReplyDeleteSo glad they let it stay Red, I loved the two tables and lamps at either side of the bench in the other shot, very cool idea.
ReplyDeleteAs a former resident of this neighbourhood, I have always been grateful to William for adding these wonderful installations to the community. Fortunate that such folks as he give so freely of their talent! Thanks William.
