Steeltown
This is a drive-by pic taken from the highway on the way to Niagara Falls and shows part of the industrial section of Hamilton, the steel capital of Canada. With all the changes in the steel industry, I have no idea which company owns this plant but since I was a kid it has always been a highlight of the trip down this way, especially at night when you can see flames burning off the waste byproducts of the steel production. (I was the passenger and not the driver!)

a neat, gritty scene!
I like the blues that has the image
Good Sunday.
A kiss.
Great shot. I agree, there is something amazing about huge factories and big equipment.
I remember seeing those stacks with the flames especially in the east.
Nice drive by Pat! There's nearly always an industrial site, with goodness knows what puffing out the chimneys, oui!
It will always be Stelco to us. (though US Steel Canada officially)
Still looks like it is in use , so thats a good thing!
Industrial sites can look surprisingly attractive when lit up at night.
It`s been years since I last went that way, but I remember that stretch of highway well.
.........great pic...looks like you are on the Burlington Skyway Bridge.
Certainly looks like steel mills I have seen. Not too many left in this country anymore. Nice drive-by!
you'd never know this was taken while in transit.
Nice catch!
I haven't seen a working mill in ages.
Some industrial areas are just not that pretty.
I always love driving by here too! I think it's amazing the things man has created. :)
I once stayed in Hamilton, with a baseball team who were taking part in a tournament there in the mid 90's. A long time ago now, great drive by shot!
