I spotted this sign along the edge of the River Ouse in York when I was there during my recent holiday. The message is short & sweet don't you think? And would certainly make you slow down and drive carefully!

Definitely a warning to heed!
We could use some of those around the Rio Grande river.
youch! yes!
Pictures speak louder than words!
But I'm wondering.....Is the warning only in effect from 8 am to 6 pm? ha ha!
Yes, that is a problem I wouldn't want to get into....ever.
Does that mean before 8am and after 6pm you won't drive into the water? LOL
One of my biggest fears when driving near water. Yikes! Message received. :/
It certainly is graphic enough for some of the dimwits in my town to understand! :)
[Every year in Florida, a certain number of people drive into canals and drown!]
I'll believe them. Just curious why there is no guard rail or fence if it is that severe of a drop off?

One doesn't need to drive to know what this sign means! ;-)
What a ride that would be.
This sign is pretty darn emphatic without any words needed. I would definitely slow down! genie
What a great sign. The message is quite clear. No missing the meaning here.
LOL, i've never seen that sign before.
A good reason to slow down!
Yes, I can figure this one out. Good one.
I saw a sign similar to that in the 80's on one of the Canadian San Juan islands. We were on our bikes, I think my brothers almost went off the ferry landing. If was a short rand at the bottom of a very long downhill road.
An interesting sign but I'm afraid I'm not very bright, because I can't figure out what it is supposed to mean.
K
Shudder.
This sign strikes fear in my heart - I always get very nervous driving near the edge of a harbour.
I would stop on a dime if I saw this sign!
Yup! There's no language barrier here Pat :))
