This bronze sculpture, titled "U.V. Ceti", can be found on Wellington St across from the FlatIron building which I showed you this week. The name apparently refers to a star system - not sure of the connection. Done by Canadian artist Andrew Posa and installed here in 1982, it is one of several pieces done by Posa around the city so I will be on the hunt for more! When the warm weather comes there is actually a fountain around the piece.
it is interesting. almost like an eye.
ReplyDeleteLike this piece very much. Would like to see it with water. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI see a long beaked bird's head! :-)
ReplyDeleteHopefully, the water will be running soon. Will add a lot to the fountain, I bet.
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting name and design. This is one where reading the artist's statement might shed some light on it's design. Then again, maybe not.
ReplyDeleteAn unusual and visually appealing piece Pat. Can't wait to see what his other work looks like :)
ReplyDeletep.s. I knew you would like the street art going on in Perth, so exciting.
Interesting sculpture.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one seeing a raven's or maybe a stylised eagle's head here?
ReplyDeleteYikes! Kind of creepy.
ReplyDeleteInteresting piece.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the birthing of a star? Or galaxy? Looks like the whole thing is a chunk of something - the universe?
ReplyDeleteWhatever, I find it quite attractive.
It's nice! I'd like to see with the fountain on too.
ReplyDeleteIt's quite a striking piece!
ReplyDeleteNot sure I noticed this before. Maybe it looks different with water. :)
ReplyDeletePrimitive and modern at once! Jaw bone of a great robot horse
ReplyDeleteAloha
I'll be interested to see other pieces. I think it may be stronger as part of a collection rather than as an individual piece...at least for me.
ReplyDeleteVery original, I like to see the street art!
ReplyDeleteI like the forms. Toronto's commitment to public art really impresses me.
