I showed you one of these gates, that are found around the grounds of Osgoode Hall on Queen St beside City Hall, in a winter shot back in 2011 (see it here). I've always loved them and this time went for a pic taken from inside looking across to our Opera House on the other side of Queen St. This type of gate is known as a cow gate since they are used on farms to control the movement of cattle.

Seems kinda fancy-dancy for controlling cows but I'm sure it works. I don't see any cows, though. :))
really beautiful! i couldn't imagine a cow fancy enough. ;)
Wow!
Beautiful and fancy cow gate. Have a happy day!
A cow gate back the. I prefer how it is used today .

WOW I would LOVE one of those "Cow gates" :) B
That's the prettiest cow gate I've ever seen Pat, beautiful iron fretwork.. is that what you call it?
so intricate!
Well, crowds of people are just like cattle ...or ...zombies... they need controlling too... this works great I guess...
The best fence and gates in the city!
I wouldn't expect anything less from my former neighboring city. Great find!
Peace :)
Beautifully ornate.
They used to do things in style, didn't they? Love the winter shot too!
Una reja preciosa !!
Hasta pronto, volveré Pat ;)
Besos.
Lots of detail... including two beavers.
These are stunning ornamental gates
I've seen them from the street side. They are beautiful.
The gates are wonderful, RedPat. I love to see ironwork like this.
That like a piece of art.
Always loved these gates!
It looks pretty fancy for a cow fence, quite ornate. Nice image!
It's a great looking gate!
One of my favourite places in the city. Winter or summer you can get great photos.
You can also dine in Osgoode Hall.
Beautiful gate!
