A 50s Church
This lovely little church, St Matthias Anglican Church, is located right across the road from the rather odd 60s church I showed you a couple of weeks ago and it was the reason I had pulled over in the first place. I love its proportions and the wonderful simple cross on its so 50s steeple and how it relates to the cross in the centre of the stained glass window. I imagine when it was built in 1957-58 the church was surrounded by greenery but now is surrounded by housing on all sides.

I like the clean lines: it looks more modern, and I am saying this as a compliment. It is also very well kept, for what I can see.

Very simple.
They just tore down two churches here that look similar to this. Shapes like this bore me.
It does have a nice mid-century look to it.
I am familiar with this style as we had two on the street I grew up on back in east.

It does have good lines. But, lots of change in the neighborhood in the last 60 or so years.
Thought it looked around 19050's /60's

It's a lovely church and it sure appears much younger than the 50's. It's so well kept.

I like the way the cross in the window is similar to the one atop the roof. I bet snow slips easily off that roof in winter!
