Moose In The Snow
In 2000 Toronto had a "Moose In the City" event where over 300 moose were painted by artists and were placed around the city. They all had antlers which tended to disappear within days unless the moose was in a secure location. You can still spot some of the moose around town. This one is located outside St Clement's School, an Anglican private school for girls in mid-town. This moose is even painted to look as if she is wearing the school uniform!
Made me smile Pat :) So nicely painted, would this one have had antlers. Isn't it funny what some people will make off with, I mean... antlers! Might make a good hat/coat hook :)
ReplyDeleteA very smart moose
ReplyDeleteNice, even with a tie !
ReplyDeleteI remember these. I must have visited the city back in 2000 because I remember seeing several of them around town. They reminded me of the "cows" in Chicago which were probably around 1998.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute and a fun civic project. Too bad about the antlers. Maybe some of the thieves got poked in the eye? We can always hope! :)
ReplyDeleteShe's a mighty fine looking gal.
ReplyDeleteLove this! Something like the bears in Berlin a few years ago...
ReplyDeleteThat's fun! Hope they replace it's antlers.
ReplyDeleteThis one does look whimsical!
ReplyDeleteI saw a 'dragon parade' in Norwich last year that was very similar. It's fun, isn't it? They sold off the dragons at the end of summer to raise money for charity. I'm glad you still have some moose left!
ReplyDeleteLooooooooove!
ReplyDeletethat's cute.
ReplyDeleteA Mel Lastman project. It was fun eh.
ReplyDeleteI love these art themes that cities and artist complete. A Moose in school's clothing; pretty sharp!!
ReplyDeleteMust be the rutting season. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love it! Great idea!
ReplyDeleteHow cute is that!
ReplyDeleteSo cute!
ReplyDeleteThat is so awesome. So modern Canada!
ReplyDeletePainted cows, moose (you) and turtles (me). I m beginning to think that this thing is overdone, though I take a pic whenever I see them, and some find their way onto my blog.
ReplyDeleteLooks cute and nicely painted.
ReplyDeleteLovely picture, he looks rather smart in that collar and tie...
ReplyDeleteThat is great! Too bad about the horns though. We've seen art installations of this kind in a few places ... Horses in Louisville KY, cows somewhere (Kansas maybe) ... And our hometown of Eugene Oregon has ducks (cartoony types, the University of Oregon is there, that mascot is the Duck).
