Moose In The Snow
In 2000 Toronto had a "Moose In the City" event where over 300 moose were painted by artists and were placed around the city. They all had antlers which tended to disappear within days unless the moose was in a secure location. You can still spot some of the moose around town. This one is located outside St Clement's School, an Anglican private school for girls in mid-town. This moose is even painted to look as if she is wearing the school uniform!

Made me smile Pat :) So nicely painted, would this one have had antlers. Isn't it funny what some people will make off with, I mean... antlers! Might make a good hat/coat hook :)
A very smart moose
Nice, even with a tie !
I remember these. I must have visited the city back in 2000 because I remember seeing several of them around town. They reminded me of the "cows" in Chicago which were probably around 1998.
That is so cute and a fun civic project. Too bad about the antlers. Maybe some of the thieves got poked in the eye? We can always hope! :)
She's a mighty fine looking gal.
Love this! Something like the bears in Berlin a few years ago...
That's fun! Hope they replace it's antlers.
This one does look whimsical!
I saw a 'dragon parade' in Norwich last year that was very similar. It's fun, isn't it? They sold off the dragons at the end of summer to raise money for charity. I'm glad you still have some moose left!
Looooooooove!
that's cute.
A Mel Lastman project. It was fun eh.
I love these art themes that cities and artist complete. A Moose in school's clothing; pretty sharp!!
Must be the rutting season. :-)
I love it! Great idea!
How cute is that!
So cute!
That is so awesome. So modern Canada!
Painted cows, moose (you) and turtles (me). I m beginning to think that this thing is overdone, though I take a pic whenever I see them, and some find their way onto my blog.
Looks cute and nicely painted.
Lovely picture, he looks rather smart in that collar and tie...
That is great! Too bad about the horns though. We've seen art installations of this kind in a few places ... Horses in Louisville KY, cows somewhere (Kansas maybe) ... And our hometown of Eugene Oregon has ducks (cartoony types, the University of Oregon is there, that mascot is the Duck).
