Small Fire Station

This is one of a few fire stations in Toronto that are located in the middle of residential neighbourhoods and were built to blend in with the surrounding homes. This is Fire Station 425 and it was built in 1930 in the Swansea neighborhood.

How nice that it was built to blend in with the neighborhood. I don't see that happening very often any longer. I know of only one here that actually blends in with it's neighborhood.

That is an interesting design. The ones I'm familiar with tend to be much more utilitarian, even in a residential neighbourhood.

Well this neighbourhood must feel safe and secure if there's a fire Pat. That's such a sweet little fire station! We actually have one also about five minutes away from my house.. I hope I never have to call them out!

Nice blending in.

Indeed a station with a low profile. That cannot be said from a lot of other governement buildings.

What a great idea. City planners or the Fire Dept or both are to be commended!

To have them nearby would feel safe.

The building seems so tiny for a firehouse!

That is a fine looking fire station. Many neighborhood fire stations have been closed. Good to see this one is still in business.

we have several like this in Rochester.

Not bad for an 86 year old building.

What a cute little fire station and how nice that it blends in like that!

I love that style of architecture. Our city has closed some of the fire stations. As a kid, we seemed to live near fire stations; consequently my brother and I were befriended by the firemen- still have a great respect for firefighters, as they're now called.

A most necessary but beautiful little place it is. We have a few gas stations from back in the day, probably about the same era that were designed like little houses. A few still exist today, not in use any more but still standing.

Sweet little public servant

This certainly would blend in!
I don't normally like big garages in front of houses, but in this case It's allowed.
