Waiting For Santa
I went down to view the floats in the Santa Claus Parade last week in the early hours before the parade begins and I am not the only one who is out early. People go down to Bloor St during the nighttime and put out chairs to mark off their space and then leave and go home until just before the parade starts around noon. It is amazing but everyone respects these territories and no one dares to take over someone else's space.

That is amazing. Though there are a lot of good people here, there are those who are not respectful of others and they ruin things for the rest of us.
Sweet memories. Do you remember Eaton's Punkinhead?
Nobody would trust their chairs being left alone here.
Hello, I guess it is a popular parade route and the spaces must be saved with the chairs. No one wants to miss Santa. Happy Tuesday, enjoy your day!
touching scene
How very decent and civilised! Like the European tradition of putting a towel on your sun lounger by the pool!
This strategy would not work here...
Nice chairs, Pat !
Nice strategy, but like some have said it may not work at their end. Nice chairs though. Greetings!
What an excellent idea Pat, although I'm not so sure it would work here without people actually sitting on those chairs ☺
I haven't seen that done here.
That is pretty amazing when you think about the world today! It actually gives me a bit of hope for the future!
Only in Canada, I suspect.
Where are the mischievous teenagers? Moving all the chairs up and down the route to different spots?
I'm glad to hear people are respectful of others' space.
This reminds me of watching the Rose Parade every year. Many years ago, we lived in Los Angeles. I had a morning paper route. I'd finish my route and then we'd drive to Pasadena where some friends who lived there held places for us along the Rose Parade route. It's interesting that in Toronto they respect people's spaces. Not in Pasadena. Someone had to be there through the night to keep the places safe. We'd arrive about 4 or 5 AM and give our friends a break for a while until the parade began.
...front row seats!
Makes for a great photo!
All the best Jan
Now that's respect, I like that. It's great to know that some people still know what it means. Great photo, Pat!
What cute little chairs! I'm not sure that kind of respect would happen here unfortunately.
Wow and nice kids chairs to.
It is amazing and it's something we do too, just to get a good spot before parades!
