Island Amenities
There are several yacht clubs on the Toronto Islands and most evenings during the summer you will see the harbour full of boats of various sizes. This is a pic of the Queen City Yacht Club which is located on Algonquin Island, the only island other than Ward's with residences. Most of the members of the clubs live on the mainland and use the ferries or water taxis to get to their boats.
...every island needs a yacht club.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to dock your yacht at the Yacht Club after a fine days sailing. Your photo makes this look very inviting.
ReplyDeleteThat photo really says Summer!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
There are some nice looking boats in this group. When I was working in Chicago back in the late 90's, I used to love to watch the boats come in from the lake for winter storage. The owners would make a party out of it and a parade of boats with party-goers on board would go up the Chicago River toward the storage facilities. When spring came and the ice melted, the parade would go the other way back out to the lake and all the yacht clubs.
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely setting - makes for a desire for boating.
ReplyDeleteI like the look of the place.
ReplyDeleteYou have set the scene well Pat.. can just imagine the boat owners sitting in the yacht club sipping summer cocktails ☺
ReplyDeleteA very pretty scene. Must be an interesting lifestyle to live there.
ReplyDeleteIt must be lovely to own a boat.
ReplyDeleteThe summer life. We also have quite a few yacht clubs around the Swan river in Perth, and Perth is the state capital with most boats per capita, apparently 20% of it's residents own a boat (but not me!)
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great place to keep a boat. So pretty there.
ReplyDeleteAh yes, this is a must and probably quite the fascinating place to just sit back and watch!
ReplyDeleteWonderful to have the privilege of owning a home on one of the islands!
