This is only the second Monarch butterfly I have seen this summer and it was quite happily fluttering around in a patch of milkweed. I was pleased to catch it being still for a second.

...I sa my first Monarch of the year, last week.
A good close up. I wonder where the butterflies in Australia have gone? Poisoned by pesticides?
Beautiful Monarch! I have not seen one yet. Great photo!
Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a happy weekend.
Beautiful butterfly. I find it mind boggling to think of the distances they cover in their lifetimes.
It's gorgeous! I haven't seen one this summer yet so hopefully I will soon! Beautiful!
It's beautiful and you're right I haven't seen them too much lately either probably because our weather has been too hot for them?
My goodness! I think I just realized that I haven’t seen one yet this year.
Quite beautiful.
They are amazing insects just to look at, but when I think about the migration they make my mind is suitably boggled. Not a species we ever see here.
How nice to see a Monarch! I haven't seen any around here in New Brunswick!
We have also noticed fewer Monarch butterflies around than in the past. Usually there are great flocks of them in the fall as they gather to head south.
Always waiting for them to appear! They arrived already in June this year. Didn't expect them before August.
And that all the way from Mexico.
I've seen a few, but never sitting still!
Gorgeous capture!
None so far.
Lovely!
Have a blessed day!
Very pretty!
