This is another of the older streetcars that was at the Open House at the TTC yard a few weeks ago. These are the ones I remember from when I was a kid bringing back sweet memories of heading off on a shopping trip with my mum.
Many cities across the world have lost their streetcars, but now wish they had them back. Both Minneapolis and Los Angles have spent millions reconstructing streetcar lines. They are a safe and efficient way of moving large numbers of people without polluting the environment.
What great memories. You prompted one of those childhood memories for me too. We didn't have street cars where I lived but I do have very fond memories of taking the bus with my mom to do some shopping in the downtown area. Thanks for prompting those great memories.

Must say, though, that the streetcars do lose some of their charm after each renewal.
Sweet memories, I have similar memories of going shopping with my grandmother.
Take care, enjoy your day!

The contemporary ones don't have character compared to these.
What a beautiful streetcar and precious memories.
The beast's outward opening doors look lethal.
Love these vintage trams. They are really sexy if still operational.
I am constantly amazed at the wonderful and colorful photo subjects you keep coming up with. Maybe it's just that you have a great eye.
The good old Presidents Conference Committee Car. I drove them on Queen Street.
It looks kind of like the Boston streetcars I remember.
