Sixties Art

This sculpture by artist Ron Baird was found on the grounds of the Canadian National Exhibition where I had spotted the fire hall that I showed last week. The piece was commissioned by the Seagram company in 1968 and was named "83" as a tribute to their Seagram's "83 Canadian Whiskey". It is too bad that it isn't against a better background so that the details show up but I quite like it as a piece of work from the 60s.

I like it too! It's been around for several decades now.

What a great piece of sculpture. It looks timeless, and not associated with any decade's style.

...I like it, but I'm have trouble seeing the connection to "83 Canadian Whiskey." Rarely is there a nice background for a photo.

I like the sculpture, it does not make me think of whiskey. Have a great day!

Hmm, a tribute to whiskey, you say. Nope, I'm just not seeing it. :-)
