Foiled Again

I was walking along a street and noticed some activity on a lawn across the road. This hawk had attempted to grab a black squirrel but the squirrel was having none of it and ran under some bushes. The hawk landed on a fence and looked a bit embarrassed and sat for a long time. I think it is a Coopers Hawk but I'm no expert.

Hello,
It is a beautiful hawk. I am sure the squirrel was relieved, it was able to escape. I believe you are correct on your id. Great photo. Thank you for linking up and sharing your critter post! Take care, have a great weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.

Your photo of this Hawk is wonderful. Hawks are not always successful in their hunts, but their percentage is not bad. The squirrel was just lucky.

Good for the squirrel, bad for the bird.

What a beautiful photo. We have Coopers Hawks snacking in our garden once in a while. Last year we had one flapping its wings around on our front porch before flying off with something in its beak.
