Want A Ride?

The laneways that run along behind the buildings of Queen St West probably have more graffiti painted along them than anywhere else in Toronto. The side of this building which faces into Trinity Bellwoods park was also a constant target until last year when artist Jesse Albert was commissioned to do this mural and I could not find even 1 tag on it since. Albert has done a lot of installations and wheat paste postings around town as well as other murals & paintings. It really suits this boho neighbourhood!

  1. Toronto has so many cool artistic works! ;-)
    What does it mean "boho"?

  2. Great to see the taggers respecting the art work of the mural. Not always so, of course, and we have had some beautiful public art murals ruined by the feral taggers here in Melbourne.

  4. You have so many eyecatching murals around Toronto, and a great idea to have them painted on graffiti prone buildings.

  5. I love this one - especially for the vibrant colours. and the lack of tagging (perhaps he is respected more than some other artists?)

A few of us have started a Monday Mural meme - perhaps you might care to join us?

  7. I like this very much - the colors and the geometric design and and the girl on the bike...I imagine it all fits together in a meaningful whole. So glad it hasn't been mutilated!

  8. I like this mural and it's a good thing the taggers have left it alone.

  9. This is pretty nice, and I am glad that the taggers have left it alone (so far!), but isn't it too bad that property owners have to do preeemptive wall paintings to keep the riffraff spray can guys away?

  11. Love the color explosion, fascinating that it hasn't even been tagged once. Shows the respect for it. It is marvelous how cities have discovered that nicely done murals help so much with graffiti.
