Royal Graffiti

This is another of my discoveries along the commercial laneways off Queen St West. I am not sure what the reference is other than playing cards but it gave me a real smile when I happened upon it. No idea who the artist is but it is unfortunate that some fool decided to blast across the middle of it with black paint!
Taking part in Monday Murals. For more murals click here.

  1. you could have said ...some 'joker'! that style looks familiar, he must have other works around that I have seen.

  2. The first thing that hit me was Alice and Through-The-Looking-glass, but first impressions are misleading.

  3. I thought about the crazy Queen of Alice in Wonderlands... But I like this King anyway! ;-)
It's a pity someone damaged this beautiful work...

  6. A fun find, like the way the windows are incorporated in the design.

  7. Too bad someone couldn't resist adding his mark. It's a fun mural just the same, though.

  8. It is an amusing mural, Pat. As you say it's amazing what idiots will do for nothing else than a malicious desire to be destructive.

  10. Okay - this ranks right up there as one of my favorites. What a great sense of humor, and the skeletal joker is really awesome. Love the way they used the boarded up windows. Great capture!

  11. What a fun little creature, it made me smile from the thumbnail, and even more when I saw it on your site. I think I like the crown best :-). Thanks for sharing.

  13. Very humorous. The King must be a caricature of a real person, don't you think? I don't know what the message is either. But an interesting composition that must have meaning for insiders. Thanks, Pat, for participating in this week's Monday Mural.

  14. Like others, my mind turned to Alice with the playing cards. Perhaps there is a political message there? It's a wonderful mural and we coud use less narcissistic jokers in this world.

  17. The joker's face looked a bit scary.

But the whole mural is very nice.
