"Orenda"

The wavy structure seen in yesterday's pic is actually a pedestrian walkway joining 2 condo towers that  is part of an art installation called Orenda. It was designed by Canadian artist Marlene Hilton Moore and installed here in 2003 at CityPlace as part of the city required art component of the development. The swirling stainless steel pieces are said to represent the branches of a willow tree wrapping protectively around the skywalk.

Great way to make a rather ordinary structure look special.

First thought: It looks like the branches of a tree or the roots of one of your ficus trees. This is a superb example of sculpture that matters!

It fits in perfectly with its surroundings, very dynamic and modern!

This bridge is pretty cool. Toronto seems more serious about the art set-aside program, and the real estate developers seem to be using those funds for pretty high quality artwork. Good for Toronto.

At first I thought it WAS a tree. Works so perfectly in the winter when the surrounding trees are leafless.
