This is Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church which is located downtown near Kensington Market. The church building started off as a synagogue which was built in 1926 and remained so until 1966 when the church congregation purchased it and modified it for their use. I have never been inside but I have seen the really large dome over the main part of the church when I have been up in a tall building behind it, so this is yet another church that I need to explore when the doors are not locked.

Another beautiful red brick building. When I was growing up in Illinois, the church we attended was also red brick. It seems so appropriate to me.
Very nice!
nice church but at my place they are closed too
It's striking and majestic. I know of many churches with that frontal configuration of steps and doors. Must have been built about the same time. It still looks more like a synagogue except for the crosses! :)
It certainly does stand out well. An impressive place of worship!
i am not sure why - but my 1st thought is "Tiffany" ... you know the jewelry store. i love it. so many colors all on one church. enjoy your weekend, Red Pat. ( :
I'm fascinated that a synagogue has been made into a church...but then here in East Gwillimbury churches have been made into houses.
quite impressive/imposing appearance! i like the 3 arched doors.
Yes definitely a worthy candidate for exploration Pat:) It is amazing though how many churches keep their doors locked between services.. sign of the times I guess!
I'm sure it would be interesting inside.
It's a pity that its locked, I'm interested in how it looks from the inside. The story of the church is interesting.
Very nice! It would be interesting to see what the building looked like as a synagogue. Tom The Backroads TRaveller

That is quite a majestic building.
This looks like a church in Hartford that is Protestant. I will have to take a picture next year.
It's an awesome building. Love the simplicity of it.
It looks so grand.
Nice building!
That's quite a conversion! Amazing building.
I've wanted to get inside too.
