I really liked this float from Tim Hortons at the Santa Claus Parade with the work crew of elves churning out the coffee and baked goods. Tim Hortons restaurants are everywhere in Canada and apparently account for over 60% of the coffee sold here with the next best competitor being at around 7%. I can easily walk to at least 6 Tim Hortons stores from my place (if I drank coffee) for a coffee & donut!
Tim Horton was a legendary hockey player for our Maple Leafs during the 50s & 60s and started the shops in 1964.

I didn't realize Horton was a hockey player. Thanks for making that connection for me. Now all I have to do is to make a connection between the hockey player and donuts. Did Tim like donuts? I'm just asking. . . :-)
I've not heard of Tim Horton. Amazing that you have 6 of these shops so close to you! Kinda like our Starbucks. I hope Horton's coffee is better than Starbucks, though!
It is a cute float, for sure!
WOW i should go to this parade!!!
"Got to make the donuts". Sorry, that's a quote from the ads for our big donut chain Dunkin Donuts. Burger King just merged with Tim Horton. We heard all about it on the news this summer.
have never been to one, and now i'm hungry! :)
To add what Lowell wrote, I hope they are not as expensive as Starbucks is.
That's quite a float!
I can think of a place here where you can walk to about that many Tims within five minutes in any direction.
I miss Timmie's!!!!
Preciosa. How nice tribute to the rich donuts !!!
I have been to a couple. They seem to be everywhere at least in Toronto.
Can't beat good old Tim Hortons, Boston Cream anyone?!
So Timmies is in the Santa Clause parade. They are everywhere!
Fantastic.
Very interesting blog.
Thank you for visiting.
Greetings from Polish.

That looks very nice.
lovely photo donuts are tasty
that's nice - the old and new cup designs.
the bakers at my local Timmy's don't look quite so elfish, though ;)
Really nice. There are a bunch of Tim Hortons in this area (one of my nieces owns several). I doubt if many folks here know anything about his hockey career. Tom The Backroads Traveller
it's good he has a business after being in sports! quite a huge eye-catching sign.
Fine looking float. Looks like it was build by float professionals. Great looking cartoon figures. Were they animated?
Ah... Donuts! Homer Simpson's favorite float.
coffee and doughnuts - I'd rather have tea and a piece of chocolate cake
Thanks for Tim's back story!

Fun float. Bet the donuts are tasty.
Tim Horton's is one shop I remember from my whirlwind visit to Saskatchewan. Wonderful display of foods and great service.
that is cute...i saw you mention this place on grace's krispy kreme post!
Thanks, now I want a doughnut
Ah! So this is Krispy Kreme's competition hey Pat :)
p.s. It was funny, there was a lady standing at the entrance and as people were going into KK's she was telling them how much fat was in every donut and how much exercise they'd have to do to work it off.. didn't seem to stop people buying though :)
Yep, I'm one who like's Tim's coffee!
Did Tim Horton keep the stores or sell out? Is he staggeringly wealthy today (or, if he is long gone, did he die a gazilllionaire?)?
