A lot of the Business Improvement Associations (BIA) around the city have installed banners similar to these in an attempt to draw attention to their neighbourhood. This one, Regal Heights, is found along St Clair Ave W and you can see the typical commercial buildings in the background as well as one of our streetcars.

Yes. These are a new-ish and welcome sight in many cities now
I used to see signs like these when I worked in Chicago. They were very good at recognizing the different neighborhoods.
I like how the banners are colour coordinated with the street lamps!
I like the streetcar and wish to heck we had them here!
Hail to the banners, may they live a long and worthy life!
Always like seeing local community banners. They often emphasize what the community is most proud of.
banners are common aroun the world
...Those banners are popular all over the place.
Banners are great advertisers for the city, they're attractive and catch people's attention. I like those street lights too. Nice city scene!
I don't recall hearing of the neighbourhood before, but I can't recall the last time I was on St. Clair.
Helps. I'm always somewhat disoriented when passing through various neighborhoods here in D.C.
Great city scene.
Like how the banner colours are in tune with the street light colour. Interesting street scene.
I like the purple color!
We seem to have flags announcing events everywhere these days ☺ I was just reading about your streetcars Pat, apparently the largest and busiest light rail system in North America.. I think they really add to the city street scenes. Do you use them often?
Hartford and West Hartford have banners all over the joint. I think I usually navigate so they aren't in my pix. I wonder why I do that?
