This is Bishop Strachan School for girls which is the oldest private school for girls in Canada having been established 150 years ago. The school moved to this Gothic building in the Forest Hill neighbourhood in 1915 and continues to expand and modernize its facilities. There are many events taking place this year to celebrate the 150th anniversary.

Another Bike Ring
This is another of the bike rings found on Bloor St W that were designed by the students at Bloor Collegiate. I'm not sure what this is meant to be an image of but the clean lines will certainly work well for locking bikes.

Butterfly & Strawberries
I spotted yet another decorated utility box, this one by St Cecilia's school in the High Park neighbourhood. The chair that is locked to the fence belongs to the school crossing guard who I guess takes a break in between groups of kids who need the traffic stopped. The artist for this one is Andrea Mancina and she did a fine job making a cheerful addition to this corner.

Drifting On The River
I spotted these two swans just drifting along in the current of the Humber River and thought how refreshing it must be! And such scenery to admire as you drift.

Goose Family
Mom & dad goose were keeping a close eye on me as I attempted to get a pic of their family so I was afraid to get any closer and as a result 2 of the babies got left out of the pic. There were 7 of them in total and they seemed to vary in size a bit which was interesting.

The Band
This band was playing for the vets at the Vets Centre at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. There is a lot of grey hair visible but the average age of the vets themselves is 93 so these guys look very young in comparison!

Towers In the Trees
This shot really gives you a good idea of the huge number of trees in Toronto. Those apartment towers are on a busy main street in the north west part of town but from this angle look like they are in a forest. I've always liked them - they were designed by Uno Prii and built in 1969. I am a great fan of the quirky towers he designed here. Check out my label below to see more of them.

Being Nice
I spotted this poster for Roots (the clothing store) and had a good chuckle about it. This year is the 150th year since the Confederation of Canada and there will be parties and events all year and I like Roots idea of celebrating the fact of our reputation for being nice. Only when I saw the pic on my computer did I read the ad for No Frills grocery store which is also a good one!

Not Extinct Yet!
I spotted this payphone a week ago and it looks relatively new so they are not totally extinct yet. I wonder how much use it gets though.

Drive By
I caught this pic of the mural as I was stopped at a red light and quickly pulled out my camera. I think it is one of my favourite decorated utility boxes with that cute bird and all the nice trees behind it.

Looking At UP
This train is one of the UP Express trains that run from Union Station in downtown Toronto to Toronto Pearson International Airport. They claim a total time of 25 minutes for the ride and you don't have to worry about traffic jams. The trains have been running since 2015 but I have yet to try one.

Lazing In The Sun
You know the weather is finally warming up when you spot the turtles at Wychwood Park out on their log catching some warm rays. They are getting to be a good size!

After The Storm
We had some bad rain storms a couple of weeks ago and I caught this sky just after the rain had stopped and before the next band of clouds that you can see in the distance moved in. The planes were taking advantage of the break to finally land at the airport. You can see raindrops still on the window when I took this one.

Greenish House
I took this pic on a dull day a few weeks ago and despite the drab look on that day I think in summer that this house probably looks quite nice so plan on heading back for a comparison when all the leaves are out and the grass is green.

Crane
There are a lot of cranes around Toronto being used for condo construction but this one in the Casa Loma neighbourhood is being used to build a single residential home. Looks like it is going to be a big house!

Window
I've always liked these windows which I think are called Witch's Eyes but I've never been inside a room with one and wonder if they are rather dark. This is a particularly nice one which I spotted in the Forest Hill neighbourhood.

Double Views
I spotted these murals on the side of a building on Jane St in the west end and was surprised to see them one above the other like this until I looked around the front of the building and saw that it is a skate exchange in winter and a bicycle exchange in summer so the 2 views make sense. I could find no artist name.

Tudor?
This another of the small apartments on Lawrence Ave E that all seem to have the same configuration but different decorations. Tudor seems to be the influence for this one.

Water Dogs
A couple of weeks ago before we had really heavy rains that filled our rivers, I spotted these 2 older dogs wading in the Humber River with their owner watching from afar. I was a bit nervous that they may lose their footing and be swept away but they both managed to get out. They probably go in every day for all I know!

Branches
The Sycamore tree is one of my favourites and this is a fine one. It's nice to see the patterns that the bare branches make against a blue sky!

Stone House
This fine old stone house is found in the Casa Loma neighbourhood. I got the pic a few weeks ago before the leaves on the trees come out and cover half of it.

Finally Flowered
I've had this Amaryliss for several years and it has finally flowered. I always worry that it isn't going to put on a display but it comes through!

This is yet another of the bike rings along Bloor St W that have been designed by the students at Bloor Collegiate. You can see the musical references in this one.

Well-protected Garage
I spotted this garage door recently. The owners won't have to worry about anyone trying anything around this group of protectors! There was no artist name.

This is St John's Anglican Church West Toronto, found in the High Park neighbourhood. I thought I had better get a pic now before the leaves come out on the trees and hide it!

Humberside Collegiate Institute
Just around the corner from yesterday's Little Library is Humberside Collegiate Institute and this is the main entrance to the school. I love the architecture of this old section of the school. The school was established in 1892 and is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year!

Another Little Library
I spotted this Little Library in the High Park neighbourhood and did a quick U-turn to get a pic of it. It looks to be the best constructed one I've seen, as if a cabinetmaker built it!

Spring Along The Humber River
The willow trees all along the Humber river are starting to bud making it really feel like spring down in the parks that run along the river's shores. This couple was enjoying the sun on a slightly cool but pleasant day.

Spring Blossoms
It is fine when you get to see the flowers that April showers bring, especially on a sunny day. This Magnolia tree looked wonderful against the blue sky!

May Theme Day: "Let's Eat"
The May theme for the City Daily Photo Blog community is Let's Eat and this is my take on that theme. This is my regular Saturday night pizza at my local pub for many years and I just walk in the door and the chef puts it in the oven - no ordering!
