On The Red Carpet
I had to show this red Aston Martin Superleggera which was displayed at the Exotic Car show on its own red carpet. It is worth several hundreds of thousands of dollars and can you imagine how much the insurance would be? Nice to look at though!

Dirty Face
This wee chipmunk was digging around in the droppings from bird feeders up above him. His whole head would disappear into the ground and he would then pop up for a breath before digging around again. He is cute even with bits of dirt on him don't you think?

A Handbuilt Car
A standout for me at the Exotic Car show in Yorkville was the corral of Morgans which are still built by hand in England. They only make just over 800 vehicles each year. I would love to take that green one for a spin!

Fast And Red
If you are going to drive a Ferrari is there any other colour rather than red? I'm a fan of black cars but the red wins for these guys. You can see in this pic how crowded it was along the main viewing aisle and why so many people went to the rear of the display which is where this pic was taken from.
I have some sad news for the photo blog community. Lowell from Ocala Daily Photo has passed away. He will be missed so much.

Exotic Cars On Bloor
On June 9 Bloor St W in the Yorkville neighbourhood was closed off for a show of exotic cars as part of a fundraiser to support research into prostate cancer. The various makes of exotic cars were gathered together in their own corrals and this one full of Aston Martins was an eye popper. The cars were fabulous but the centre row leading along the street was so packed with people that it was hard to get near the cars. The people in this pic are at the back of the displays and are up on the sidewalk. I'll show you a reverse view tomorrow.

A Conversion Update
I first showed you these old Victorian houses in April of 2015 (HERE) when they were nothing but a facade from the original buildings. When you go back to the link follow the link there to see them as they were originally. Well I was in the neighbourhood to see a car show and dropped by to see the finished product. I must say that I was pleased to see how they rebuilt the skins of the homes and they are now used as entrances to the curvy glass tower behind. A Good Conversion!

Guard Dog
This large dog was painted on the back wall of a building along Feel Good Lane. There is another cute dog off to the right but there were several garbage bins in front of it. The artist for this one is Dr_Roameo.

Billiard Room
This is the billiard room at Spadina House where lots of fun times were had by the family after relaxing in the parlour which I showed on Friday. Renovations were done here several years ago but those murals that you see on the upper parts of the walls were cleaned and restored rather than replaced.

In The Parlour
This is the parlour in Spadina House which is so well decorated in 1920s style. Can't you just see ladies in their fine 20s clothing lounging around in here? Actually this weekend at Spadina House they have the Great Gatsby Garden Party when guests are encouraged to arrive in 1920s finery for a day of music, dancing and picnicking in the extensive gardens surrounding the house.

Spadina House
Spadina House is a historic mansion now operated as a museum by the City of Toronto. It is the next door neighbour of Casa Loma and shows various styles of architecture from the 1860s through to the 1930s as various additions took place. The interior decor shows it as it might have been in the 1920s and 30s. It was open with free admission during Doors Open and I will show you a few interior pics over the next few days.

Be Aware or Beware
I spotted these signs at the entrance down into one of the many treed ravines that run throughout Toronto. There have been a lot of coyote sightings even right downtown and there are stories about people having their small dogs grabbed from backyards or while out walking. I haven't seen any but have seen a fox downtown wandering through a neighbourhood. Nature is adapting to mankind!

Pink
I spotted these Japanese Tree Peonies in the gardens of the Veterans Centre at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre about a week ago and they looked so luscious. Then we had several days of windy, rainy weather and they became very bedraggled. I'm glad I saw them at their prime!

Otherworldly
This blue lady is another mural from Feel Good Lane. She has a rather otherworldly look about her but that seems to be balanced by the large flower by her ear and the images of dolphins floating in the background. The artist for this one is Anya Mielniczek.

Bata Shoe Museum From The East
This is the last of the posts from the Bata Shoe Museum and I thought I would show it from the east side whereas the pic on Wednesday was from the west. It is one of my favourite new buildings in the city so I thought both views were in order. I'm standing in front of the York Club which I showed you last Sunday to take this pic.

Glamourous Birds
These birds are actually shoes from Myanmar made in the shape of hintha birds. They are made for young boys for the Shinpyu ceremony and are designed to be disposable in order to reenact Buddha's abandonment of his royal privilege and finery. They were part of an exhibit of "Glittering Footwear From Around The Globe" at the Bata Shoe Museum.

Glass Slipper
Part of the permanent collection at the Bata Shoe Museum is a small selection of glass shoes and this glass slipper was one of the loveliest. It is Venetian Murano glass and even Cinderella wouldn't have been tempted to wear this one. Pretty to look at though.

Stairway To Shoes
This is the staircase from inside the Bata Shoe Museum leading to the three floors of exhibit space. This whole area is lit by a wall of glass facing south so it is always bright. You can see the woman in the middle of the pic waving at the camera.

A Box Of Shoes?
One of my stops during the Doors Open event was the Bata Shoe Museum on Bloor St which is the only museum in North America dedicated to the history of footwear. The building was designed by architect Raymond Moriyama and he says that he designed it to reference an opening shoe box. It has really interesting displays of the development of shoes through the ages and always has special exhibits as well. The sign saying "Want" is advertising a show of Depression era footwear that is now on and is fabulous.

Little Red Beauty
This pic was taken through a showroom window at night so there are a lot of little reflections but the car is so wonderful that I thought that I must post it. It is an MG Tf 1500 and these were made in the mid 1950s. Wouldn't it be fun to cruise around in it?

Birds Of Feel Good Lane
This is yet another mural from Feel Good Lane. There didn't seem to be a signature on this one so I have no idea who the artist is and the car is blocking a bit of the art unfortunately.

Elegant Entrance
This is the entrance to the York Club which is a private social club that has been in this location at Bloor St and St George St in the Annex neighbourhood since 1910. The building was built in 1899 as a private residence and remained so until the owner died and it was sold to the club. I love all of the fine carving you can see.

Banded
This little Chipping Sparrow was poking around on the ground below a bird feeder so there is a lot of spilled food around. I noticed that he was banded which really made me wonder where he had been traveling and where he had been caught and released. Cute isn't he?

Junction Sales
That looks like a wooden floor at the bottom of this pic but it is actually a large wooden table found in the Junction Craft Brewery. The shelves show some of the souvenirs you can buy and then you can sit around the table and have a cold beer. It was nice to see the table-top hockey game - that is something that can be found in many Canadian homes and is great fun to play.

Vats
These are some of the large vats that line the walls of the huge space inside of Junction Craft Brewery. The different sizes enable them to make up smaller batches of seasonal or test brews. Interestingly the large open space in the centre of this room is rented out for events and there had been a wedding reception in here the day before I was there. I'm sure that would be a wedding people would talk about for a long time.

In The Junction
Junction Craft Brewing has a great taproom where you can sample many of the different beers that they make and also a patio for al fresco drinking and snacking. I was driving and had more places to visit during Doors Open so took some cans to go.

Decidedly Deco
We had our annual Doors Open event a week ago and my first stop was the Junction Brewery which is located in this wonderful Art Deco building in the Junction neighbourhood. This building was built in 1933 as a garbage incinerator for the city. Trucks would drive right in and dump their load into great pits where the garbage would be burned with the smoke and gases escaping through huge 200 and 150 ft tall chimneys. The chimneys are gone and the building has been totally renovated and renewed and now has heritage protection. Part of it is the brewery and part, including the top floor, is now an event space. Fabulous isn't it?

Lion In The Lane
I still have a few more murals to show you from Feel Good Lane. There wasn't a clear signature on this great colourful mural featuring a graphic lion. I like the style of it.

Another Conversion
This is the entrance way leading down to a condo building in what had been a small industrial space located in a laneway behind some homes. Haven't they done a wonderful job to make this look so inviting?

June Theme Day: "Pink"
The June theme for the City Daily Photo Blog community is Pink and with that in mind I offer this garage door complete with pink landscape and pink cats observing the world from high platforms. I think it is by the artists Insect Cabaret but there was no signature.
