Dinnertime

This Red-Tail Hawk had caught a pigeon and proceeded to land on a pole just about 20 ft from my roof deck. I didn't see the beginning of the episode but saw him as he enjoyed his dinner but if you look closely he was being dive-bombed by wasps and eventually he gave up and flew off leaving part of the carcass behind. Nature.

A hawk will eat just about anything.

Gosh that was quite a scenario played out there right before your eyes Pat, it is certainly tough out there!

Wasps have spoiled many a picnic.

Nature's brutal side on display! I've seen a roadrunner do pretty much the same thing just not on top of a pole.

A wasp or two will buzz around me as I'm filling the birdbath, waiting for their drink of water, but they never bother me. Apparently they see me as the provider.

I am surprised the Hawk did not take his dinner with him when he left. Perhaps he was already full? Great photo that tells a story.

Fabulous, Pat! I saw one attack outside my window once. It was fast as powerful as a punch! I practically felt it.

I didn't realize wasps attacked birds. You caught quite a slice of life here. Wonderful shot!

Huh. Am I glad to be a human and cook my food. But the wasps, no one can escape it seems.
