This sign is posted along Philosopher's Walk and gives a bit of history about the buried creek that still runs beneath it. The creek was buried in the 1800s but the shape of its path still exists in the shape of the walk.

One can think about all that history while walking on that trail.
for some reason I can't enlarge the photo but a buried creek sounds intriguing.
...who and why would you bury a creek?
I think this happens more than we realize in cities.
It’s fascinating how the vanished creek still murmurs through the contours of the path
It is too bad that creeks get buried in cities. They should be able to run free. Good that the university has a philosopher's walk, especially since so many universities have eliminated many philosophy classes.
A sad story about the creek, RedPat.
Interesting history.
I know there are a number of creeks buried in the city.
