Snowy Street

 

I showed you this street in the Annex neighbourhood a couple of weeks ago (HERE) and thought I would show it the morning after a snowfall. We have actually had a few more snow storms since this pic was taken. Everything looks so bright in the snow.

A Sunday Morning

 

This is a typical street in the Little Italy neighbourhood on a Sunday morning when not many people are out and about yet. Even on a hot day those trees make the area feel cooler.

Leaning

I spotted this guy leaning on that post when I was about a block away and hurried along to get closer and to pull out my camera before he could move. I didn't need to worry as he stayed like this for a while as he waited for someone who was in a shop.

A Lot Of Style

While waiting for a crowd to move along I could not help noticing the great style the young woman on the right has going on. It is hard to tell but her purse is shaped like a carton of milk. It is interesting that her 2 companions were dressed in in casual everyday clothes.

Waiting For The Light

I loved this woman's pose as she waited for the traffic light to change. You can see from the outfit that it is summer here.

Concentration

I spotted these three gentlemen in a little parkette along Bloor St W in the Annex neighbourhood.  They were so engrossed in their card game that they never noticed me taking their pic at all.

A Quiet Spot At The Park

This fellow had ridden his bike to the park bringing a small fold-up chair with him. He found a nice spot under a tree and was totally engrossed in his phone. A restful scene.

Day At The Park

 I caught these grandparents with the youngster who had just finished playing in the playground. It was now time to rest for a bit.

Kensington Market Streetscape

With the streetscape theme still on the mind this pic of a street from the Kensington Market neighbourhood seems like a good fit. The Market is an old area of the city full of people and shops from all over the world. This section of the street is full of vintage shops offering all kinds of retro treasures. The Market has been under threat from large scale chain stores but the community has pressured the city a lot and so far has been successful in protecting its character.

February Theme: "Streetscape"

The theme for the City Daily Photo Blog community is Streetscape which posed a bit of a quandary as to what kind of streetscape should I show and then I was walking along and spotted these two kids playing street hockey and the problem was solved. It is quite a Canadian tradition for kids to pull a hockey net out into the street and play hockey with a ball. When a car comes everyone yells "car!" and moves to the side. It was good to see these kids continuing the tradition.

A Winter Sighting

This is a common sight on our streets in the winter time - someone walking down the street with a hockey stick and a huge bag of equipment. You see people of all ages and both genders and in this case it was a young woman heading to a local ice rink for a game.

"Neither Sleet Nor Snow...."

The day I took this pic last week was actually a nice day and everyone was out enjoying a sunny sky and temperatures around 7˚C. It still seemed funny to see this young woman sitting on a bench surrounded by snow and totally engrossed in her phone.
