This is almost a drive-by pic as I was driving along Dandforth Ave in the east end of the city, an area I don't often go to and I spotted The Allenby Theatre and quickly pulled over. This Art Deco beauty was constructed in 1935 and was hugely popular until being renamed The Roxy in the 1970s. It became famous in the city for showing the Rocky Horror Picture Show and did well for many years until finally closing. In 2007 it was given historical protection and so it avoided being torn down but it no longer operates as a theatre. The facade and box office have been restored but the rest of the building was changed and it is now a Tim Horton's outlet (the famous Canadian coffee & donut shop). I intend to go back one day to check out the details and have a look inside.

Heading Under
These are the tracks from the Up Express which is a train running from Union Station in downtown Toronto out to the Toronto Pearson International Airport. At this point in the Weston neighbourhood the tracks are first covered by these pipes and then head underground for a short distance. I'm not sure if these pipes are supposed to buffer the sound or what their purpose is.

Wings
I'm not sure if there is any significance to any of the symbols in this mural but the wings certainly catch your attention. It is found on the front of Brooklyn Bar which is a bar/nightclub on Queen St W. The artist for this one is "Duro the Third".

Old Police Station
This Gothic Revival building was constructed in 1890 as the Ossington Avenue Police Station but now houses a day care centre. The building has heritage protection and looks as if it is being well maintained.

A Pretty Girl
https://viewingnaturewitheileen.blogspot.ca/
Last Saturday I showed you a flashy male Cardinal and I thought I would show the delicate-looking female this week. They are so lovely in their soft tones of brown with a red tinge. She was picking around for seeds among grains of ice and salt along a walkway at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

A Sunny Winter Day
We finally got some weather last week which wasn't terribly freezing so it was time to get out for a walk. This older house in the Seaton Village neighbourhood was looking quite impressive in the sunshine with a bit of snow on the roof to give some atmosphere.

Snowy Library
I've shown you this library before but I thought it looked so nice with the snow on its roof and dormers that I would show it again. There was nothing inside that I wanted to read.
