Carving
I happened upon this sandstone carving on a home on Spadina Rd which was built in the late 1890s. I can't figure out what is going on in this guy's mouth - 2 cigars at once!? It is so nice to see the detail work which was put into these carvings during those times.

That is a beautiful piece. At first I didn't see the face until you mentioned his mouth. That is unusual. I'm going to say it's two carrot sticks. That's a little more healthy than cigars.
He doesn't look very comfortable, whatever he's doing!
To me he looks like he is puffing but can't figure out what it's supposed to be.

Intricate carving. I think he has over-sized buck teeth.

It almost looks as if it might have been designed to be a fountain Pat, and that is the hole for the hose, its a mystery, but a lovely carving nonetheless.
Odd detail, but I love finding these kinds of things. Too bad they don't do work like this anymore.
Isn't a pan flute a double shape?
