School For Girls

Another drive-by pic, this one taken as I was doing a short-cut through the leafy Forest Hill neighbourhhod. This is Bishop Strachan School which was founded in 1867 and is the oldest day and boarding school for girls in Canada - founded with the intention of educating girls to be leaders. It occupied several locations downtown until this Gothic style building was completed in 1915.  Many additions have taken place since but the campus remains a beautiful location in the city.

Your town has some of the most exquisite stone buildings I have ever seen. This is just gorgeous

It is a beautiful building. I wonder how many female leaders it has produced.

Ditto what Sharon said Pat, would be interesting to see the stats. It certainly is an impressive building.

Do you know any leaders who have graduated from this school? The dark stone is a bit foreboding.

I love the stone! What a gorgeous building. I'll bet those walls could tell lots of interesting tales if they could talk!

A day and boarding school for girls sounds strange in this day and age.

Wow, it's a cross between the French and English definition of "formidable."

Definitely has that Alma mater look to it!

It is very pretty RedPat. That stone is a very dark and "serious" shade of gray.

I wonder how many leaders have actually attended that school. :)
