Steel Entrance

This is the entrance to yesterday's visitor centre at Fort York. It is made to look as if a couple of the steel panels have just been swiveled up to form an awning over the doors. The workmanship in this whole structure is wonderful to see even down to the concrete walkways. It will be fabulous when those newly planted grasses grow up.

Quite a formidable entrance. And while it does echo the fort, it's still quite modern.

This kind of construction would seem to almost perfect for the Outer Banks where people are always having to board up their houses and businesses in advance of hurricanes. :-)

Interesting designed entrance. Iron-tough.

I like the way the wall you showed yesterday just blends right into this entrance. Nicely done.

Once the grass grows in it will look great against the steel and concrete.

I like it. It reminds me of old fortresses or medieval castles with their drawbridges over the moats! I imagine that's what it's supposed to be!

Excellent. Kudos to the architect.

I love this, and would want the panels to come down like a portcullis and protect me from all comers.
